About Events & Festivals
Diwali (Deepavali) is called the festival of lights celebrated all over India and most parts of the world, signifying the victory of good over evil as per Indian mythology. FICQ has been celebrating Diwali Festival in Brisbane since 2010, promoting harmony and multiculturalism. More than 15,000 people from Brisbane and other parts of Queensland attend the event annually, signifying the success and growing popularity of the festival.
It is a unique occasion that the national days of two countries India and Australia fall on the same day 26 January. FICQ takes immense pleasure to celebrate this important day. We notice growing Australia-India trade, tourism and with major contributions seen in the field of education and building cultural ties. This event will feature with speeches, great entertainment and delicious food.
Each year, FICQ engages with its member associations and other multicultural organisations in their events – such as, MDA’s Luminous lantern parade held during June, Indian Independence Day celebration along with GOPIO Qld. The Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast during April 2018.
FICQ is a not for profit organisation and relies heavily on the generous support of the sponsors to fund these events and festivals.
