House of India

Building a Long-Term Home for Queensland’s Indian Community

One of FICQ’s major long-term initiatives is the development of the House of India, envisioned as an important community facility that will provide a permanent home and platform for Queensland’s Indian community.

The project represents FICQ’s commitment to creating long-term infrastructure that can support community activities, cultural programs, networking, education, leadership development and broader engagement for generations to come.

FICQ conducted the foundation laying ceremony in April 2026, marking an important milestone in the development of the project.

The anticipated official opening of House of India is 2028, with further construction milestones and project activities to be announced as the development progresses.

The project is expected to create opportunities for community organisations, businesses, corporate partners and other stakeholders to participate in the development of a significant community asset.

Further partnership, sponsorship and recognition opportunities will be developed as the project progresses.

Building Stronger Connections Between Australia and India

FICQ recognises the growing importance of the relationship between Australia and India.

Queensland’s Indian community plays an increasingly important role across:

  • Business and entrepreneurship.
  • Education.
  • Health and professional services.
  • Science and technology.
  • Tourism.
  • International trade.
  • Culture and the arts.
  • Sport.
  • Community development.

FICQ seeks to support these connections by creating platforms where government, business, community and diplomatic stakeholders can engage with Queensland’s Indian community.

Why FICQ Matters

The Indian community in Queensland is diverse, vibrant and continually growing. However, diversity is strongest when communities can come together around shared interests and common goals.

FICQ provides that platform.

By bringing community organisations together under one federation, FICQ enables the Indian community to speak with a stronger collective voice while respecting the unique identity of each member organisation.

Together, We Are Stronger

For more than 25 years, FICQ has worked to connect, represent and support Indian communities across Queensland. Our strength comes from our member organisations and the thousands of people they represent.

Together, we:

Connect communities. Celebrate culture. Develop leaders. Build partnerships. Represent our people. Strengthen India–Australia relations. Contribute to Queensland.

FICQ welcomes eligible community organisations to become part of this collective journey.
